If you ask me what I came into this life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.
— Emile Zola, 1840-1902
French novelist and playwright
Everyone is talking about how awful 2016 was, about how they are happy to see it go. I have to say, for me, it wasn’t so bad. Sure, the candidate I supported in the U.S. presidential election lost on a technicality, and lots of cultural icons who influenced my younger days passed on, reminding me that none of us is getting any younger. But it’s also the year my husband beat cancer, and the year my marvelous grandson was born. Once again, I didn’t make much progress on The Six Goals of a Quality Life, but I am nevertheless full of optimism and forward motion.
Holidailies ends today. I thank this community for allowing me to be but a shadow member again this year. The few times I did post original content made me remember why I started an online journal in the first place, and gave me an idea for the theme for 2017, my seventy-first in this world, my nineteenth online: Living Out Loud.
If you only come here during Holidailies, well, then, see you next year. If you’re a regular, see you soon.
