This image shows two very clear, well formed clusters of Pediastrium. These algae, along with the many other species of single celled green protists, are the culprits that cause "green water" in our ponds when they exist in abundance. The individual cells are symmetrically secured in a cluster by a mucous-like web. A baby cluster is seen forming just to the upper left of the pointer. Back To Image Index Page
