It&#8217;s <a title=\"Aryn Kyle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.arynkyle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aryn Kyle&#8217;s <em>The God of Animals<\/em><\/a>, about a 12-year-old girl who lives on a horse ranch in Colorado with her father and her mother. The mother is a shadowy figure, a woman who fell into a depression when Alice was a baby and who no longer leaves her bedroom. Alice&#8217;s adored older sister has recently run off with a cowboy, a classmate has drowned in a canal, and her father, in an effort to make ends meet, is catering to people who have more money than horse sense and who board their pet horses with him and take riding lessons.<\/p>\n<p>I am working hot on my novel right now. Today a relationship developed between two characters that I had not expected, and I had to get it down on paper. In addition, I have some other concerns that are making it difficult to jump from the head for\u00c2\u00a0fiction (reading and writing) to the head for nonfiction while also staying in the present. To that end,\u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m posting this only as a place holder, something that qualifies as an daily item for NaBloPoMo, and withdrawing to think smooth green and windy things.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">*********<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nvar sc_project=3916081;\nvar sc_invisible=1;\nvar sc_partition=47;\nvar sc_click_stat=1;\nvar sc_security=\"41f88bb5\";\n\/\/ --><\/script><\/p>\n<p><script src=\"http:\/\/www.statcounter.com\/counter\/counter.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><noscript><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>The NaBlos of the Past:<\/p>\n<p>2008:\u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"Yes We Did!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.silkentent.com\/Trees\/?p=354\" target=\"_blank\">Yes We Did!<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0&#8212; <em>My vote might have taken two seconds tops. All I had to do was press the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153straight Democratic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d panel at the top of the screen and the bar at the bottom that records the vote.\u00c2\u00a0(Oh, and yes or no on a referendum about clean water. I had a robocall from Ed Rendell, the governor I love to hate, about that yesterday. Who would vote against clean water?) But I hesitated, feeling suddenly the weight of history. I touched <\/em><a title=\"Go Judy!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.silkentent.com\/Trees\/?p=350\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #3b6065;\"><em>Judy Hirsh\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s name <\/em><\/span><\/a><em>lightly, then Joe Biden\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, and finally Barack Obama\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. I took a deep breath then, pressed all the right places, and heard the little bell ring that signaled I had completed the process.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2007:\u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"Packing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.silkentent.com\/Trees\/?p=188\" target=\"_blank\">Packing<\/a> &#8212; <em>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been packing for Wyoming \u00e2\u20ac\u201d more accurately, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been\u00c2\u00a0applying the Think System to packing for Wyoming \u00e2\u20ac\u201d since I got back from Vermont nine weeks ago.
