"Life is no brief candle for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations." -- George Bernard Shaw

This is a journal of my efforts, finally, to put together my family's history. Right now that material exists as piles, boxes, and folders full of pictures and documents as well bits of biography and autobiography in various forms and stages of completion. What I want it to be is a collection of well-designed, archival-quality photo albums and scrapbooks and an accompanying printed narrative which will celebrate the lives of my parents, Ludwig and Rose Dwyer Yakimoff and their families, as well as the history of my acquired family, the DeAngelis-Petrucci clan.

The progress of this project will be kept in journal form, each entry being a separate page on this site. A table of contents will be maintained here, and each entry will be individually linked to the one which precedes it as well as to the one which follows.

I hope that readers will be entertained by my journey as a family historian as well as informed about the places, people, and practices that will be discussed. More important, however, I hope that my work will inspire others to undertake a similar project to illuminate their own histories. Everyone has a story -- isn't it time you told yours?
